The Never Ending Business War

When it comes to business, both sides have a bone to pick and more than a few reasons to gripe. While some women struggle to be taken seriously, others seem to fly up the ranks with ease. So it begs the question: is it easier being a man or a woman in business? Here are a few pros and cons for you to consider:

Men.

Pros: men still get paid more, generally, which is pretty ridiculous considering how far society Read the rest of this entry »

In the work-place, a war is being fought; women are trying to dress in a way that makes people take them seriously, but not so seriously that they seem void of all personality and not much fun. It’s a debate that’s been raging for as long as women have been working: what is appropriate clothing for a women at work?

What should women wear and what should they not?

It’s much easier if you’re a man, of course (and I Read the rest of this entry »

If you ask me, a lot of businesses are responsible for their own failings; most people would agree that the reason why most businesses eventually fail – both offline and on – is because they don’t sell and market themselves properly. This is obviously one of the key components of any business, and one that is also often overlooked.

Some of the key mistakes businesses make are as follows:

1) Not having a web-site: there’s no excuse for this now. Read the rest of this entry »

In business, there are some things that are frowned upon: things like calling door-to-door trying to sell knocked-off jewellery, trying to force someone to sign up to insurance over the phone, and sending mass emails as a way of trying to get more business.

The weird thing is, in the case of the latter, it really does work and can result in some really good contacts: Read the rest of this entry »

There’s a lot of talk about detox for the body, but what about detox for your life? You can apply the age-old detox theory to almost anything, and of all the things which most people need to detox every once in a while, it’s their loft.

Take me for example: I am terrible. I horde everything, especially things I don’t like or need. My loft is jammed full of all kinds of stuff that I will never use, but I Read the rest of this entry »

Farting: to breathe or not to breathe

Have you ever been suffocated to death in a lift by an individual who just farted? Did you not want to just push very hard your huge custom rings into the person’s face? There are many people who would find it absolutely fine to fart in public, as per them it’s very natural and is not meant to harm anyone. Well the fact is, it does harm everyone around, as it’s simply not pleasant for anyone. I think if people Read the rest of this entry »

Watching The Social Network the other night – directed by David Fincher, starring Jesse Eisenberg in the lead role – I realised, perhaps for the first time, just how much Facebook has left to conquer. Because, amazingly, although the firm boast billions of world-wide members, and are growing all the time, there are still a few countries such as China who they are yet to dominate. Something tells me they never will, and possibly that’s a good thing.

I say Read the rest of this entry »

The internet is making people who use it smarter, what with all its facts and unlimited info, and it’s making people who DON’T use it…Well, they aren’t learning as much. In some cases they are learning very little indeed and just sitting, staring at the TV. It’s no wonder, then, that the gaps between the generations are broadening and now, in places, resemble Grand Canyon sized drops into infinite space, is it? While us younger folk binge on info at Read the rest of this entry »

Fact: whether it’s online or off, one thing that human beings will always love to complain about is advertising. Advertising in magazines, on the internet, on TV, even in hair removal supplements etc. The main gripe that most people seem to have with it is that it is unnecessary, annoying, needless (and I join them in this gripe: what is going on in TV land at the moment, exactly? There seem to be more annoying advertisements than EVER before, as Read the rest of this entry »

Every now and again, while searching randomly on the internet I come across something a bit obscure. Yesterday’s obscure thing was a blog about big mens clothing (really quite good, although the bit with lots of larger people in shorts was quite comical, it has to be said), followed by a blog about communication and how important it is (and how overlooked it is, more importantly).
