It Doesn’t Matter Who Wins The Next UK Elections, It will Be Much Of The Same Thereafter

After almost an eternity of having the Labour party rule in the UK, it would appear that they are set for a defeat at the hands of the Conservatives. Or are they? The polls have shown that since 2007, there have been times when the Labour party was way in front, while at other times, the Conservatives showed to lead. But either way, will the winner change things from thereafter? The answer is NO.

Regardless of who wins the next election, there is likely to be very few changes implemented by the ruling party. This is not because they do not want to, or that they do not have the means to implement change. There are two reasons why neither the Conservatives nor the Labour will make much of a difference.

The first factor involved in the potential lack of change is partisan politics. For example, if the Conservatives win the upcoming election, the Labour party will undoubtedly do their best to discredit any new policies that the Conservatives make, disregarding any potential benefits the policy can have. Neither political party is interested in what they can do, but rather are more interested in maintaining citizen support at the expense of the other party, as opposed to gaining citizen support for their own actual deeds.

The other factor is the media. In today’s sensationalized media, it is impossible for support to be given to any one political party. Let’s face it, there is no news unless it’s bad news. If the new party in power offers only beneficial negative-free policies, the media will inevitably find any possible foilables and concentrate on them instead of other more relevant issues. As a result, the ruling party will do what they can to maintain the status quo while limiting any conflicts.

The end result of all of this is nothing changes and the people end up feeling the brunt of the fallout.

Right before I log off, I need to brag a little bit. I have just bought the nicest running shoes that I have ever owned. Parks Marathon, here I come! I know I said this last year, but seriously, I am totally stoked about it this time.
